Sick Day Rules, Medicines and Dehydration
An Information Leaflet for our Patients

  • What is the potential problem?
    This leaflet will give you a list of medicines that should be temporarity stopped during a dehydrating illness.
  • Which illnesses cause dehydration?
    Dehydration is the loss of fluid from your body.
  • What actions should I take?
    If you develop a dehdrating illness, you should temporarily stop taking any medicine listed in the leaflet and any others identified by your health professional.

  • Diuretics
    Sometimes called ‘water pills’ for excess fluid and high blood pressure

    A medicine for diabetes
